On 09/09/2016, the closing ceremony of the 66th AUN-QA actual external quality assessment at programme level was taken place at Ho Chi Minh University of Technology.
As planned, the AUN assessment team had implemented activities of quality assurance for two programs, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, at Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HCMUT), and one program, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, at Ho Chi Minh University of Science (HCMUS) from 07/09/2016 to 09/09/2016.

The assessment team consisted of Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti - Deputy Director of AUN, Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana - Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang - Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Prof. Dr. Arnulfo P. Azcarraga - De La Salle University (The Philippines), Dr. Pepen Arifin - Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Fauza Ab. Ghaffar - University of Malaya and Assoc. Prof. Dr.Preyanuj Yamwong - Mahidol University (Thailand).

Besides, there was the appearance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoi Nghia – Vice President of Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector and the Party Committee Secretary of HCMUT, Dr. Vu The Dung – Vice Rector of HCMUT, Deans of the assessed programs, Heads of offices, lecturers, students, alumni and employers.

During the assessment, there were some such significant activities as interviews with selected stakeholders and site tour (2 campuses: Ly Thuong Kiet - District 10, Ho Chi Minh City and Di An - Binh Duong province).
In the closing ceremony, the preliminary results and findings from the team were presented by the AUN representatives highlighting the key strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement of the two assessed programs. Overall, the results and findings show positive feedback in terms of training programs, quality in teaching and learning, quality of students, employability and employers’ evaluation. However, some aspects which need continuously improving are facilities of the institution, the connection/ network between the institution and employers and alumni.
Based on the assessment, the AUN assessment team recommends the institution to set out specific actions and solutions to ascertain and meet the AUN criteria, to improve the educational quality and to motivate the international affiliation.
Finally, the Words of Appreciation was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector and the Party Committee Secretary of HCMUT. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh ensured that there would be specific action plans to the areas for improvement. Simultaneously, he expressed his desire that more and more training programs would be assessed by the AUN in the future
